For local professionals

Practical support for families.

Beyond Paperwork provides calm, clear and confidential administrative support, with bereavement administration at the heart of our service. We also support families with defined benefit applications and ongoing practical administration.

We work alongside solicitors and other professionals. Legal work remains with the family’s solicitor; Beyond Paperwork takes care of the agreed practical administration.

Where we add something the free services do not. There are free notification services that families can use, and many do. They notify. They do not chase the account that never closed, speak to the council or HMRC where a form is involved, complete a benefit application form with the family, or keep one master schedule of assets and liabilities. That is the work we take on, on the phone, with the family, until each agreed task is closed.

Who we help

When the practical tasks become too much

Our service is for family members, carers and individuals who need help understanding what needs to be done and keeping track of the work.

A useful referral when someone:

  • Feels overwhelmed by the number of organisations to contact.
  • Is supporting a bereaved relative alongside work or caring responsibilities.
  • Needs practical help but does not need legal advice.
  • Would benefit from one person keeping the agreed tasks organised.
What we can help with

Three areas of practical support

Bereavement Administration

  • Notifying organisations and requesting the closure of accounts, by telephone, on the family's behalf, and following up until each one is closed.
  • Preparing the family for the death registration appointment.
  • Contacting banks, pension providers and insurers.
  • Requesting the cancellation of subscriptions and social media accounts.
  • Organising information and documents for the solicitor.
  • Creating an action list and tracking progress.

Benefits & Later-Life Support

  • Administrative support with Attendance Allowance applications.
  • Administrative support with Pension Credit applications.
  • Administrative support with Council Tax Reduction applications.
  • Administrative support with Blue Badge applications.
  • Help completing forms and organising information.

We do not provide specialist benefits advice or decide entitlement. We charge a fixed fee for this work, payable when your form is submitted, never a percentage of any award.

Ongoing Support

  • Ongoing assistance with bills and correspondence.
  • Practical administrative support to help keep agreed tasks organised.
Our boundaries

Administrative support only

Beyond Paperwork does not provide legal advice, undertake probate or replace the work of a solicitor. We agree the practical administration with the family and refer legal questions back to their solicitor.

What families pay

Fixed fees, agreed before we begin

Families often ask about cost before they agree to anything, and it is usually the question that decides whether they get in touch at all. Our fees are fixed wherever possible and always confirmed in writing, so a family is never left with a bill they did not expect. If you are asked, these are the figures to quote.

  • Notifications & Organisation Pack, from £475. Up to 8 organisations, a master schedule of assets and liabilities for the solicitor, and a written progress log. Additional organisations £35 each.
  • Extended Estate Support, from £850. Up to 20 organisations, ongoing correspondence handled on the family's behalf, and chasing of replies that do not arrive.
  • Benefits application: £180 per application. Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, Council Tax Reduction or Blue Badge. Payable on submission, whether or not an award is made. £150 for each additional application prepared in the same engagement.
  • Ongoing administrative support: £95 per month. Up to 4 hours each month, three-month minimum.
  • Ad-hoc support: £42 per hour. Charged in 30-minute units, one-hour minimum.
  • Free 45-minute initial consultation. No charge, no obligation.

Travel within 20 miles of CM18 6TP is included; beyond that, £0.45 per mile, agreed in advance. Beyond Paperwork is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to these figures. We do not undertake probate or provide legal advice, and we do not charge a percentage of any benefit a family receives.

How our benefits fees work

  • A fixed fee of £180 per application, agreed in writing before we start: £150 for each further application in the same engagement.
  • Payable when your form is submitted: not before, and never as a percentage of anything you are awarded.
  • We do not offer “no win, no fee” arrangements and we never take a share of your award.
  • We do not decide whether you are entitled to a benefit. We complete the forms accurately with you; the decision is made by the Department for Work and Pensions or your local council.

Free help with these forms is also available from Age UK, Citizens Advice and some local councils. If we think one of those routes would suit you better, we will say so.
